Urban Mode in Paris for Maison&Objet

Myrlene and I recently went to Paris. While our main purpose was to go to Maison&Objet, we also had some time to walk around and take in the Parisian culture. Nice perk! There is always something new to discover and we did make some great new discoveries.

But first, Maison&Objet. If you have never been, Maison&Objet is a big show that encompasses 8 buildings. There is a lot to look at and get inspired by. Colours and patterns were definitely very much in vogue at this show. We saw beautiful lighting, amazing modern furniture and some absolutely gorgeous textiles on that furniture. We came away from the show very inspired. We have to say that we were really a little bit obsessed with the 3 cute vehicles that we saw – the food truck in the Fatboy booth, one that is a Cafe and the Pink van where you can get your nails done – see pics below. For more of our trip see after the pics from the show below.

We decided that we would take advantage of the day with the best weather to walk around Paris. We decided we would go to the Centre Pompidou and the nearby Marais district. The day was sunny and it ended up being the warmest day there. It was a great day to stroll and soak up the parisian atmosphere. We saw a lot of great stores and do we even to talk about the patisseries. There are a lot of patisseries in the Marais district. We walked by a store that we thought was a jewellery store but it was an amazing patisserie – Les Fees Patissieres. As you can see from the pic below, their displays are amazing! More of our trip after the pics below.

Myrlene and I both love cheese – I mean you are in Paris after all, you have to try the cheese – and more than just once! We also took in some other sights as we strolled around – Notre Dame, the “Love Lock” Bridge and the Eiffel Tower (from afar). All beautiful and amazing to see in person.  We went to Carre d’artistes Gallery rue St André des Arts. We loved the artwork and their great range of artists. One store that was recommended that we go see was Merci. They have a nice courtyard with a red car in it. They also have 3 cafes to choose from, we ate in the Used Book Cafe. Nice atmosphere and the food was good. Merci is a combination of fashion, designed goods and household products. We have not seen a store before that brings all of these elements together. We enjoyed our time in Paris and look forward to the next time. A bientot.
